Submissions
If you are looking to submit to Section 8 then you must follow the guidelines below. If a submission packet is received that does not follow the guidelines below it will not be reviewed and it will be discarded. (Think of this as the first test; if you can't follow these instructions how can you be trusted to finish assignments?)
The requirements for each position changes depending on what position you are interested in. All submissions require a cover letter with the following information (again, if there is no cover letter or you are lacking any of the following information your submission will not be reviewed and it will be discarded):
Your full name
Your full contact information (Address, phone number and email address – if applicable)
Indicate if you are over 18 yrs old.
Position you are interested in.
Again if your cover letter does not have the information listed above your submission will not be reviewed and it will be discarded. Please make photo copies of all of your work and mail them to us. Make sure that the photo copies you send in are done at original size. The address to mail in your submissions is:
Section 8 Comics
C/O Eric Rivera
32 Mountaindale rd
Yonkers, NY 10710
Writers: Section 8 is not currently accepting any submissions for comic book writers at this time, but the Crossroads webzine is always looking for short stories, articles and reviews. Please see the Crossroads Contribution page for details.
Pencilers: Section 8 is always looking for talented pencilers. Pencilers who are submitting to Section 8 Comics should send five (5) pages of a sequential story. All artwork should be 11 x 17 inch paper folded once and put in a 9 x 10 envelope. Never send in originals; always photocopies. If you would like you may include up to three (3) pin up or cover composition pieces.
Inkers: A good inker is even harder to find so Section 8 is always on the lookout for talented inkers. Like pencilers, inkers need to send in five (5) pages and up to (3) pin up / cover pieces; however, they need to include the pencil pages as well. The art should be 11 x 17 folded once and placed in a 9 x 10 envelope. Never send in originals; always photocopies.
Colorist: Digital coloring is a fairly new field so if you think you have what it takes please submit the following: five (5) pieces of sequential work and up to five (5) cover/pin up samples, two (2) minimum.
Letterers: At this time we are not looking for any submissions.
Completed Series: If you have a completed series your submission process is slightly different. First of all we only want completed projects. By completed we mean the project is print ready on a CD and all of the digital pre-press is done. NOTE: At this time we are only doing black & white books. If your story generates a sufficient following it MAY be re-released in color. Those details will be discussed prior to signing contracts.
You still need to make sure that your submission has a cover letter with the basic information and some additional information:
Your full name.
Your full contact information (Address, phone number and email address – if applicable).
If you are older than 18 or not.
How many issues is your series.
In addition to the information above you need to include a synopsis of your series and character descriptions. This should be no more than 5 pages. Then you have to include a dummy copy of the first issue of the series you are submitting. That means we need a full color copy of the cover as well as all the interior pages. 1 shots can be up to forty-four (44) pages; mini series can be up to 4 issues 32 pages max.
If you need any assistance in putting your project together Section 8 can be hired to help you complete your project. We are also a full service studio for hire and even offer professional digital pre-press for your project. HIRING SECTION 8 DOES NOT GUARANTEE WE WILL ACCEPT YOUR SUBMISSION FOR PRINTING. Some books may be rejected due to content, similarity to existing projects and or the companies’ current financial situation. See our services section for more details on how we can help put your book together. |
